In order to build muscles, remember that carbohydrates are very essential, as well. Remember that carbohydrates help fuel your body so that it can perform your daily exercise regimen. When you work out heavily, you should have between two to three grams of carbohydrates for every pound of your body weight. You need to watch your diet, especially on those days that you intend to work out. You will need to consume more calories than normal throughout the day, with a push in the hour prior to your workout. The idea is to eat enough to fuel your body for the workout, not to overindulge. If you want to get toned, then use lower weights and more reps and sets.
